Product description

The CUNU 254 is a portable thermal inkjet printer designed for single-color marking directly onto items and packaging with flat printing surfaces. Since information is printed directly onto the surface, no labels are required.

Printing functions and device specifications

• Maximum print height: 25.4 mm; print resolution: 600 dpi.
• The integrated software supports counters, date functions, text, barcodes, QR codes, EAN codes, and monochrome bitmaps.
• The device features a robust hard plastic housing, an integrated touchscreen, and a 16.8 V, 2,000 mAh lithium-ion battery.
• A guide rail for precise positioning of the print on the product or packaging is included.

Ink and printable surfaces

A 45 ml TIJ solvent ink cartridge is included. According to the original product specifications, its yield is approximately equivalent to 950 A4 pages of text. The print dries within a few seconds and is smudge-proof once dry.

Printable materials listed in the original description include glass, paper, cardboard, ceramics, plastics, and polymers such as PET, PVC, PE, HDPE, LDPE, and PPR. Metals such as aluminum, cast iron, copper, steel, and titanium are also listed.

Cartridge operation and maintenance

The handheld printer operates as a standalone system with a touchscreen and therefore requires neither a smartphone nor a computer. The printhead of the quick-drying cartridge requires regular cleaning. If the cartridge is not removed and resealed after use, several test prints may be required after prolonged storage to clear all the nozzles. The original product information recommends using isopropanol for cleaning.

The chip-free cartridge system accepts original HP cartridges as well as compatible cartridges with or without a chip. Replacement cartridges can be purchased from CUNU or specialist printer retailers.

Scope of delivery and support

The scope of delivery includes a carrying case, printer, battery, charger, replacement rubber rings for the guide rollers, a USB flash drive containing English-language instructions and a manufacturer's video, and a stylus for the touchscreen. The device software is multilingual; a basic German translation has also been integrated for the TIJ models offered, enabling the display of umlauts.

The original product description specifies a twelve-month warranty for the TIJ printer. Technical support is available via telephone and email.
