The CUNU KS2 is our best complete thermal inkjet system. The KS2 offers the same range of functions as the KS1 but also features a 7" capacitive touchscreen that would be the envy of modern smartphones. The KS2 is also available with a large printhead capable of printing heights up to 25.4 mm. The TIJ process works by heating and ejecting tiny ink droplets from the printhead—a precise, non-contact method that dries in seconds. TIJ is a very fast, single-color printing process.

Note: TIJ printing technology offers many advantages. However, please note that this printing method requires periodic cleaning of the cartridge printhead (video example here). Conversely, the very fast-drying ink means the printhead is more prone to clogging than in conventional inkjet printers. If the device has been idle for an extended period without the cartridge being removed and resealed after use, a few test prints must be made first to ensure the nozzles are fully flushed out.

The CUNU KS2 is a standalone TIJ marking system. It utilizes the widely used and field-proven HP (Hewlett-Packard) compatible 45si standard with a 1/2-inch cartridge for marking a wide variety of products; food-grade inks are also available if required.

The printhead can be precisely adjusted and secured using the included stainless steel tubes and mounts. Standard hex keys and a screwdriver (included in the scope of delivery) are used for setup. All necessary mounting hardware is supplied, enabling self-installation or integration into existing packaging or production lines. The TIJ printing system can be easily integrated into most packaging lines.

The thermal inkjet printhead supports print heights of 2–12.7 mm (or 25.4 mm) at print speeds of up to 50 m/min. It is ideally suited for marking products with manufacturing details and serial numbers; labeling parcels, shipping cartons, and delivery documents; marking components made of wood, plastic, concrete, or metal; and marking various products with text, auto-incrementing numbers, batch numbers, item numbers, barcodes, and QR codes.

An adjustable sensor detects when a product approaches the printhead and sends a signal to initiate printing. The software offers various settings to synchronize the timing of the printing process with the speed of the conveyor belt (see our instructional videos below for more details). A selection of fonts is available. Text, data, and graphics can also be transferred to the standalone TIJ printer via a USB flash drive.

The system is easy to operate and can be adapted to a wide range of specific requirements. Its robust design makes it maintenance-free. The printhead is integrated into the ink cartridge and is considered a consumable item, which you can reorder from us at a low cost.

Here, we would like to provide a comprehensive overview of the mounting and operation of the KS2 Thermal Inkjet System. Please take the time to watch our video examples to ensure a smooth installation and avoid frustration during operation. Although the software is designed to be intuitive, it must be configured to match your specific conveyor belt speed and adapted to your products. Self-assembly is typically carried out using the included 16mm tubes, as well as aluminum stands and connectors.
