Egg labels with EAN code – Selling eggs to resellers can initially be challenging. Retailers require various pieces of information on the labels, such as an EAN code (European Article Number) for scanning (barcode format) or the printed refrigeration date—even though the latter is no longer a mandatory legal requirement.

For this reason, we print your custom-designed egg carton labels exactly according to your specifications. In the example shown, the terms "Laying date," "Best-before date," "Keep refrigerated at 5°–8°C from," "Quality Class A," "Weight Class," and "Packing center number," along with the EAN code (barcode and numeric sequence), are pre-printed on the label. The corresponding price labeler (see "Compatible Products" below) then stamps the variable information onto the label during the dispensing process.

To produce egg labels with an EAN code, you first need an EAN code unique to each product. You can apply for this EAN/GTIN number through GS1 Germany. (We only need the number itself; we will generate the graphic representation of the EAN code—the barcode—for you.) Please consult your customer or retailer regarding the exact information required, as there are currently no uniform standards.
