Facts about genuine contact labels (26x16)

Contact labels offer excellent feeding performance in labeling guns and feature FSC-certified premium paper with absorbency specifically matched to the ink in the device's ink rollers. This ensures sharp, smudge-free contours for printed characters and numbers.

Maximum storage time: The manufacturer specifies a shelf life of 12 months for removable labels and 48 months for all other labels. To significantly extend the shelf life of all adhesive types, we recommend repacking them in airtight PET bags and storing them at a room temperature of 18–20°C.

Facts about the adhesive coating and strength of 26x16 mm Contact labels

Each of the adhesive strengths and coatings described below has distinct material properties. Please note that all labels require a clean surface to ensure the desired adhesion or durability.

• Removable (Adhesive 1)

Removable labels feature a special adhesive that does not bond permanently to the packaging being labeled. Labels with adhesive strength 1 (the digit is printed on the back of the carrier strip for identification purposes) are primarily used in pharmacies (where prices change frequently and relabeling is necessary) or for goods that are intended as gifts or are delicate. The labels can be easily removed from the product. The manufacturer specifies a maximum storage period of 12 months for removable labels. (Item no. A27000010)

• Permanent (Adhesive 2)

Adhesive grade 2 (printed on the back of the backing paper for identification purposes) is classified as permanent because the strong adhesive bonds effectively with paper surfaces, making the label difficult to remove. Permanent adhesive is the standard for price labels, accounting for 90% of all applications. We stock white Contact labels with adhesive grade 2. • For Deep-Freeze Applications (Adhesive 5)

Contact labels for deep-freeze applications are designed specifically for this environment. The adhesive used here withstands temperatures as low as -50°C without issue. Simply ensure the surface is clean and dry when applying the label. (Item No. A27000050) Initial tack: 12 N/25mm (FTM 9 Glass); 90° peel adhesion: 6.5 N/25mm (FTM 2 St.St.); Minimum application temperature: -20°C; Service temperature: -50°C to 70°C. The adhesive is specially formulated for low-temperature and deep-freeze conditions. It offers good initial tack and final adhesion on a wide range of packaging materials—such as paper, cardboard, and film—including non-polar, curved, or irregular surfaces.

• Water-soluble (Gum 7)

The new G7 CWP (cold water peeling) pressure-sensitive adhesive enables the use of water-soluble labels that adhere well—even in cool, humid environments—yet are easily washed off. Avoid gumming up your equipment, such as Gastronorm systems. The water-soluble adhesive ensures that no label residue remains on crates, containers, boxes, or other storage systems. Water as cool as 35°C is sufficient to wash off the label without leaving any residue. (Item No. A27000070)

• Water-resistant (Gum 6)

Labels with water-resistant adhesive are ideal for application onto damp or wet items. The adhesive layer and the label paper are slightly thicker than usual (900 labels per roll for the 26x16 format). Note: This adhesive does not have ISEGA certification; please do not use these labels in direct contact with food. (Item No. A27000060)

• For textiles (Gum 4)

In terms of composition and characteristics, this textile adhesive is equivalent to "Gum 2" (permanent adhesive), but it is applied in a thicker layer to ensure adhesion to the porous surface structure of textiles. The manufacturer specifies a shelf life of 48 months. (Item No. A27000040)

• High-tack adhesive (Gum 8)

This extra-strong adhesive is used when labels must not be removable, or are intended to be extremely difficult to remove. Shelf life is 48 months. (Item No. A27000080)

• PE adhesive / Polyethylene labels

This adhesive type is used for polyethylene labels, offering exceptional water resistance and tear strength. The back of the PE labels features a high-tack adhesive (Gum 8). This type of label is popular with nurseries and garden centers. When using a price gun to mark the labels, please note that the ink requires a few hours to dry completely.
